Also bought the german version 4 weeks ago. If I still could- I would return it now. :(
1) Listening to music over the 3.5 headphone jacket sucks! It generates very anoying cracks all the time. They might not be very noticable if you like heavy metal – but I really can’t stand it. Would expect the audio part of such a device to be more professional at least.
2) the phone hangs pretty often. I had to remove the battery lately more and more often. Yesterday it happened right in the middle of a call. Since than (after replacing the battery) it does not start over at all! Now I have to return it to the service and see, if they can fix it.
I did not root my phone nor did anything, which would not be recommended by Motorola and am very disappointed :(

Nope, I have the German version with a manual update to 2.0.1. I guess my problems could all be in the firmware…

Do you have the Canadian version of the Motorola Milestone? I just got mine on Saturday, and I haven’t had any of the calling problems that you’ve had. when the thing is turned so that it’s vertical then the screen stays off, but if it moves significantly, such as when you turn it so you can look at it to end the call the screen turns on again. I’ve spent tons of time talking on it, and it’s worked perfectly. The only problems that I’ve really had are the keypad thing, though I’ve found that usually rights itself if you lock and turn it on again, and that sometimes when I plug it into a computer and then disconnect later it will think it’s still connected to the computer. This isn’t really a problems other than slowing down the phone slightly, and I’ve only been able to fix it by restarting.

Ah well, still and awesome phone, and I’ll be downloading the paid apps until they’re available via market in Canada.
