Hey Sig,
Good stuff man.
There’s tons of ways to get apps on the phone. I, like many in Canada, were frustrated to find we can’t get paid apps on the device. It seems like the same old thing – network providers and companies/ and or regulatory bodies like the CRTC or whomever can’t get their act together to keep pace with a rapidly evolving market.
Well, for us non-drone like droid users, oops, I mean ‘stoners or ‘stone users, there is the wonderful land of piracy, torrent,s and open source goodness. Even though the device is not rootable yet (i’ve looked, and i’m sure it’s not much different than the Euro’stone, but I won’t chance it on a 700$ device.
Anyway, just download AndExplorer and APKoptic and then go to town on the 750 app Android torrent… It’s about 350 megs and some don’t work but those that do… pure magic! The real game changer for the device is Album Art Grabber which really works well for the most part. Also, Docs to Go full version and a few other goodies in there too.
Let’s root this baby I need more powah!!!
Dalc
Well I was trying to support the developers a bit since its not their fault and all..But yeah that torrent s a great fix for all your paid apps ;)
Hey sig,
Oh for sure some apps are worth paying for, no doubt. About it! I happily paid for the album art one. How come your interested in the cdn mobile scene…
I love your site btw !
Hey Hey,
Thx! Euhm, what do you mean by CDN mobile scene?
Hey Sigrid,
Oh I meant the Canadian Mobile scene, as in devices available in Canada under the big three, Rogers/Fido, Bell/Telus/Koodoo…
It’s super cool that you are covering it! One thing I noticed about the Milestone in particular is that it is lacking in Voice Search capacities, and won’t let you take advantage of Google’s Navigation Offerings. It seems as though Motorola has held back some of the phones capabilities to appease the Network providers…. Oh well. We can only hope that a nice convenient hack will allow the phone to reach it’s full potential.
Of course there could be some legal stuff but I somehow doubt it…
Have a great day!
Ooooh ok :) Well that’s because Im absolutely allergic to restrictions on devices people pay a lot of money for. You own the thing so you should be able to use it in any way possible and without companies stopping you because of some mysterious business reason. Then I found out about the Telus device not even having root so I started writing about it…
