How to charge a Kindle in Europe (and how often)?
Since a lot of people seem to be looking for an answer here: charging a Kindle in Europe is easy!
How?
The Kindle ships with a USB cable and an American power adapter. You can either buy a travel adapter (and use it in combination with the USB cable and the American adapter) or you can charge your Kindle when it is hooked up to your Mac or PC. I've heard that some PC users are having problems with getting the Kindle to charge when connected to the computer. Mac owners should have no trouble at all. I've also heard of people using their phone USB adapter (but be careful and check the adapter's output etc.) When the Kindle's battery is not charged correctly it wil automatically discharge. Charging your Kindle again with a proper adapter should fix this.
How often?
Your Kindle battery should easily give you a couple of weeks of reading if you switch off the 3G connectivity. Reading 24/7 will shorten that time, of course. I read on my Kindle regularly and overall I think the Kindle has a very respectable battery. It only takes a few hours to charge and you rarely have to worry about running out of juice. I find this to be one of the main advantages of the Kindle. One of the first things that would bother me with another device, say the iPad, is the very limited battery time. It's impossible to get that same reading experience as when reading a paper book if you need to worry about battery time.
