  1. Root your Motorola Milestone/Droid 2.0.1 | Sigrid schrijft zegt:

[...] them and their development. Our phones wouldn’t be as much fun without them! On top of that, I’m already annoyed with Motorola’s rooting and flashing custom ROM’s policy so I don’t have high [...]

Good post, and well worded. My thoughts exactly.
I bought a Milestone and will not be buying another Motorola product, due to the way they have handled this issue.
I hate apple with a passion and bought an android phone because I imagined I would be free of development and mod hassles.
I was very wrong. I should have bought a nexus one.

Yeah, I wish Motorola would let us have as much fun with our Milestone as the people who have a Droid…Im happy I dont have a Milestone from Telus in Canada. I think they dont even have root…

LIE: ” When we do deviate from our normal practice, such as we did with the DROID, there is a specific business reason for doing so”. I am surprised that they don’t just admit that they screwed up with the DROID and someone found a way to root it and the bootloader wasn’t digitally signed. This was NOT PLANNED, they just didn’t forsee it happening. I think a more honest response would have been to admit the DROID should have been locked up like the Milestone.

    • Sigrid zegt:

I guess ‘We had to get the phone in stores and didnt have the time to really lock it’ would be a business reason too…

A shame, I bought the Telus to use it on AT&T and can’t even root it… MOTO I could not be more upset, if I wanted an Apple lock down I would have bought the iPhone. I am still hoping someone would at least be able to root it. Time will tell but for sure this is my first and LAST Motorola phone, a shame I love the device.

  5. [...] There’s a Palm Pre on its way to me and my geeky heart is already beating faster now that I have started my preparations for some serious WebOS fun! Did I abandon Android? Hell no! I just wanted to play around with home brew apps, patches, ROMs etc. on a different mobile platform. (My Milestone isn’t giving me much wiggle room in that department…) [...]

  10. AT&T Motorola Backflip apps locked: who can hack it? | Sigrid writes zegt:

[...] That's right: you are not allowed to uninstall their apps and you're not free to install any app you like. Wow, that's like….having an iPhone! Techcrunch advises its readers to just not buy the Backflip. I can't agree more, unless you think you're able to hack it ;) There's just so many different reasons to slap AT&T over the head about this. Motorola clearly didn't object either which proves they haven't learned a singly thing after the Milestone fiasco. [...]

  11. Nicolas Frenay zegt:

Exactly my thoughts… Motorola is just being VERY stupid.
