Android Eclair 2.1 on your HTC Magic 32 A with Planet MAX custom ROM
Here's a quick guide to installing the Planet MAX custom Eclair ROM on your 32A HTC Magic (If you haven't rooted your phone yet, go to the guide first) Proceed at your own risk!
If this post is old by the time you read it, make sure you find more information on other websites! I have installed this ROM successfully with no immediate errors while trying it on Sunday, February 7th 2010
1) Download this new Eclair ROM for HTC Magic 32A phones here at Planet MAX. Make sure you read all the remarks, change logs, etc. so you understand what you are installing!
2) Connect your phone to your computer and mount your phone through the USB notification
3) Drag and drop your new ROM to your SD Card (Do not put it in any folder!)
4) Rename the file to Update.zip
5) Unmount your phone and disconnect it from your computer (Make sure it's charged!)
6) Turn your phone off and boot up in Recovery Mode (Press home and power at the same time when phone is off)
7) Make a Nandroid backup!!
8) Make sure the backup is finished!
9) Wipe your phone (Wipe data)
10) Flash update.zip from SD card
11) Wait
12) When finished, select Reboot
13) Give your phone some time to boot up the new ROM for the first time. It'll take time! No worries, future boots will not be as long. Don't get impatient ;)
14. You have Android Eclair running on your HTC Magic! Yay!
EDIT:
*Planet MAX Eclair is working fine with one exception: I can't get Youtube videos to play on my Magic. I can hear the sound, but no image. (See last part of video)
**When you receive a phone call, it takes a bit before you can see who’s calling (this is probably the most annoying bug)
