About

So, you want to know more about me? Here's the classic summary:

  • I'm 26
  • I live in Ghent, Belgium
  • That's me on the picture

A bit more information for those who want it:

You've probably noticed I like geeky stuff, books and talking or writing about current affairs. These have been my interests ever since I was old enough to imagine the future. Me and my best friends spent days dreaming about gadgets allowing us to talk, see and message each other over unimaginable distances. I am one lucky girl to be living in the age of the digital revolution or my dreams would have never come true. When I was 17 I begged my dad for a cell phone, a Nokia 3210, and ever since I am completely addicted to trying out new devices.

This is an important part of my character: I have an unstoppable interest for things that are 'new'. Not just cellphones or other gadgets,oh no, I'm generally interested in anything I don't know yet. I love to learn and I love to comprehend. The internet is a great tool to feed my passion and I spend many hours every day reading all sorts of things. You'd think I was a great student, but I wasn't at all. Sure, I passed most exams and I never got kicked out of school, but I didn't get really interested in school until I followed another childhood dream and applied for the Journalism Academy in Tilburg, The Netherlands.

I know it's cliché but those years as a (radio journalism) student will probably be the years I tell my (hopefully future) kids about when talking about 'the good old days'. After two years of practically living in the school's radio studio and participating in many voluntary radio productions, I decided to work on my graduation thesis and radio documentary in Oklahoma, the United States. Living in the US for a while was yet another dream I was able to give a little 'check!' on my list of dreams come true. I also got to combine two of my biggest interests to graduate: radio journalism and multi media.

Ok, I wasn't planning on writing an autobiography anytime soon so I'll quickly mention a few more things about me before wrapping this up:

  • After graduation I worked as an editorial coordinator at a website, country manager of an online project for a broadcast company, junior product manager within the online department of that same company and as a communication manager at a European digital agency.
  • I'm planning on starting my own company soon. Or rather: planning on working as a freelancer
  • I am an internet addict, specifically addicted to 'social media' and mobile internet
  • The only dead animals I eat are shrimp
  • I have a dog, a cat and a hamster
  • I am happily living together with my sweetie
  • It's hard to find music I absolutely don't like (but if you play your 80s collection you might succeed)
  • I realized I had to come up with new dreams when I attended an Oprah Show taping in Chicago. I had practically done everything I had written down on that 'dream list'.
  • I write a lot, obviously
